Laura Weir takes the helm at the British Fashion Council (BFC).
Weir will take up her new position as chief executive officer (CEO) at the British fashion association on April 28, the BFC announced on Monday. She succeeds Caroline Rush, who is leaving the association in June after 15 years at the helm.
The new BFC boss is a recognized leader in the global fashion industry and has extensive knowledge of British designers as well as management experience in editorial and retail.
“Laura Weir has worked with established and emerging designers, creatives, industry leaders and the press throughout her twenty-plus year career,” said BFC Chair David Pemsel. “Her experience gives her an understanding of the complexity of the fashion industry ecosystem and the strategic vision to drive positive change and initiatives that will shape the BFC’s next chapter at home and abroad, supported by an outstanding team.”
As BCF CEO, Weireng will work with designers, industry partners and government agencies to promote British fashion and its talent.
