January 5 – 10.26pm – MILAN

Here’s everything that happened on the first Sunday of Serie C in 2025, with the second day back which will end with nine matches on Epiphany day.

group a

The record-breaking Padova picks up where they left off: another victory comes against Caldiero (1-0), scored in this case by captain Kirwan (great right-footed volley after Russini’s backheel and Villa’s cross). For one night, the points advantage over Vicenza (tomorrow at Menti with Pergolettese) becomes 13. Nice move by Trento (2-1) on the pitch of a Lecco team devastated by injuries and far from resolving its crisis: at the start of the second the winning headers from Samuel Di Carmine (11 goals in the championship) and Vitturini split the game, Sipos always does his duty (eighth center) but it is not enough to avoid the dispute for Volpe’s team.

group b

After more than two months, Torres returns to winning at home, beating Pescara 1-0 (nice diagonal from Varela at the end of the first half) and tries to relaunch itself while awaiting the responses of Ternana and Entella: to legitimize the the two woodwork hit by Fischnaller and the regenerated Varela were also a result, while Baldini has only collected two points in the last four games. In the match at 12.30, equal at Mazza between Spal and Perugia (1-1): ahead with Di Maggio and in numerical superiority for 50′ (red to El Kaddouri), the Umbrians were joined by the infinite striker Antenucci. The 0-0 draw between Legnago and a Campobasso team that hasn’t won in eight games was emotionless. No goals also in Carpi-Milan Futuro, with a few more shocks: two chances on each side, including a Rossoneri crossbar from Stalmach.

group c

Benevento’s show of strength, which overturns Catania in the big match (from 1-2 to 3-2) thus managing to defend the lead and send Toscano’s team to within 12. In the first half there was a back-and-forth: Lamesta unblocked on a corner development, Inglese equalized with a header; Catania overtook at the beginning of the second half with the feat of Jimenez from 25 meters (goal after the assist, for the Italian-Spanish), but Auteri’s changes revealed themselves triggering the equalizer from the substitute Lanini – great turn on an assist from Oukhadda – and the definitive counter-overtaking by Simonetti (in the final, victory secured by Manfredini’s save on Inglese). Behind the leaders, the closest pursuers do not give up. Monopoli defended their solitary second place by beating Sorrento at the end of time thanks to Grandolfo’s header, the fourth goal in the last five games (Bolsius had reached a provisional equalizer after Bruschi’s first lead from a penalty). Cerignola also scored an external blow in Messina (3-1): Anatriello with a penalty replied to Ruggiero’s initial Apulian advantage, but the success matured in the second half when Salvemini and Romano (assisted by Achik, who had just returned) put the former Krapikas through with a deadly one-two in the space of four minutes. And so the first three, in the end, take a slight advantage over their pursuers.

In fact, Avellino were caught up in the all-Campania match on the Giugliano pitch (1-1): guests ahead with Sounas who took advantage of an indecision from goalkeeper Russo, the equalizer came two minutes from the 90th minute with Masala. Only one point also for Potenza, held back (0-0) by a desperate but proud Turris, who return to moving the table after four defeats in a row (Forziati still on the interim bench, awaiting the ok to sign the new coach Imbimbo). Taranto, shaken by the corporate crisis and the formal notice issued by some players, resisted for almost a while in Latina: it ended 3-1 for Boscaglia’s team (who brought in the latest arrival Ciciretti from the bench) with Petermann scoring, Crecco and the former Vona, shortens the Bulgarian Papazov too late.
