Catherine Keyl said something to Dyantha Brooks at a party and that made the Shownieuws presenter completely upset. “I just burst into tears at that moment.”

The presenters of Shownieuws all have a fairly static TV career: besides the show section, they do virtually nothing. Dyantha Brooks also only has to show up from her employer SBS 6 to read the show news, but is that enough for her? Does she have no other ambitions in the field of television?

Dyantha’s career

Two years ago, Dyantha was allowed to try the TV game Lettrix, but that was a real beast of a program with accompanying viewing figures. “People sometimes ask if I wouldn’t have liked to have been further along in my career. But with two small children, I don’t worry about that at all,” she says The Telegraph.

“I just want to maintain what is there. Fortunately, things are a little better now, but when the boys were smaller, I was only concerned with surviving the day on four hours of sleep. So what are you talking about?!”

Catherine’s compliment

Motherhood is tough, says Dyantha. “Nine months on, nine months off is nonsense. That takes much longer. Especially when the eldest was just born, I thought: I will never work again and stay with you forever. I am now just reaching a phase where I can let go of them a little more and there is slowly some space for my dreams and ambitions.”

And that ambition has only grown brighter since she met Catherine Keyl. “I was recently approached at a party by Catherine Keyl, my childhood heroine. I remember coming home from school every day, throwing my bag down next to me, popping a pizza in the oven and looking at Catherine.”

‘I filled up’

What did Catherine say to her? “When she said I was doing well, I burst into tears. I thought that was such a special moment. I think it would be great to have my own interview program, like Catherine used to have.”

And what else? “I would like to see a big entertainment program on Saturday evenings. I want more. The discussions to achieve this are in full swing.”
