“The stain was discovered by the kayaking club in Zwevegem. They noticed that a sticky substance was sticking to their boat,” said Degezelle. “The stain floats on the water and has a size of about five kilometers. We have closed the canal so that the substance would not mix with the water when boats pass. It is not clear at the moment what it is. The stain has spread from OC De Brug spread up to the pump building in Bossuit.”
