The Spaarnelanden spokesperson reports that all Haarlem residents should simply rely on their regular credit of 365 openings. “It is properly registered behind the scenes. It’s really a display problem on site. We have to visit the containers to correct this. I expect this to be arranged within a few days.”
Dealing better with waste
In mid-December, Haarlem residents received a letter from the municipality and Spaarnelanden announcing the new arrangement. The credit is intended to help residents ‘deal better with waste’. ‘In Haarlem we are separating our waste better and better,’ the letter states, ‘but we still waste forty percent of our raw materials. In addition, residents sometimes throw construction and demolition waste in containers or companies use containers without paying for them.’
