Just before Christmas Eve, on December 24, the Council for Election Disputes decided that the elections in Heuvelland should be repeated again. That decision came after a complaint from Jef Huyge, the former General Manager. The Council established that irregularities had occurred. No crystal-clear deception, but a playing field had been created that allowed irregularities. Polling station 4, in Kemmel, was particularly under fire. As well as the transfer of 350 ballot papers from that office to counting station 2.
The Municipal Interests party, which has the absolute majority in Heuvelland, had eight days to decide on an appeal to the Council of State. Mayor Wieland De Meyer informs the editors that that decision has now been made.
