An increasingly rare new photo of Jack Nicholson was released Thursday in a gallery of images showing the actor and the family’s holiday gathering.
The picture of the 87-year-old actor, long out of the film business, was one of those posted by Nicholson’s daughter Lorraine on the ninth slide of the “Time of Giving.”

In the caption, Nicholson’s director Nancy Meyers, who directed “Something’s Gotta Give,” wrote: “Your dad looks great.”
As The Hollywood Reporter notes, Lorraine’s photo is the first public image of Nicholson in nearly two years.
The actor also has not appeared in public since he attended some Los Angeles Lakers playoff games in April and May 2023. These surprise appearances marked his first visit to his typical courtside seats since 2021.
The acting legend and three-time Oscar winner, as well as the most nominated male actor in Academy Awards history, last appeared on the big screen 14 years ago in the 2010 romantic comedy How Do You Know.
In his last on-screen appearance, he recalled his friendship with Muhammad Ali in the documentary The Fight Game.

Paparazzi last photographed Jack Nicholson on his balcony in 2023. The first private pictures of the then 85-year-old in two years. His fans criticized this and demanded that he be left alone.
“Jack Nicholson is unrecognizable before his 86th birthday,” Fox News wrote about the photos. “1) It is very easy to recognize. 2) Let people grow old in peace, you monsters,” wrote one Twitter user.
The Daily Mail also published the pictures of the three-time Oscar winner, taken in front of his home in Beverly Hills.
“Jack Nicholson, 85, looks disheveled on his LA balcony as he is seen for the first time in TWO YEARS,” writes the British tabloid. The actor has stayed out of the public eye for years. In 2021, he was photographed with his son at an LA Lakers basketball game.
