According to Mohamed Salah, there is still “no progress” regarding an extension at Liverpool FC. The 32-year-old Egyptian therefore expects to say goodbye in the summer. He explained this in an interview with the TV channel “Sky Sports”.

With a market value of 55 million euros, Salah is the second most valuable professional in the world who is available for free at the end of the season; At the top is teammate Trent Alexander-Arnold (26) with 75 million euros. Since January 1st, the two of them and all other players with an expiring contract have been able to negotiate with interested clubs or sign a working paper with a new club that will be valid from July 1st.

Salah had already expressed his disappointment at the contract poker with Liverpool at the end of November and announced that he would rather leave in the summer than stay. At that time he emphasized that he had not yet received an offer for an extension. The fact that his future is uncertain does not affect his performance: “My head tells me: If this is the last six months, what would I like to see in the future? Do I want to look back and say I was worried or stressed about the contract? Or do I just want to say I had an incredible season? That’s what’s going on in my head.”

Salah has been in Liverpool since 2017 and is currently having an outstanding season: with 17 goals and 13 assists in 18 games, he is by far the best scorer in the Premier League. Winning the championship is his big goal; especially since the big party when we won the title in 2020 was canceled: “We have been waiting for this title for around 30 years. Due to the pandemic, we didn’t really have time to celebrate him properly at the time. It’s not a pretty thing, so hopefully we can do it this year.”
