A soldier is left alone in the subway station.
A publicity stunt for the new season of South Korean Netflix hit Squid Game has gone viral after things apparently didn’t quite go according to plan.
The lone soldier
A video is circulating on Platform X in which a “Squid Game” advertising stunt that obviously went wrong was captured. What you can see: In a subway station in Turkey you can see a group of people in the series’ distinctive pink soldier uniforms marching into a subway car. One after the other gets in in an orderly manner. But, as he can’t look so quickly, the doors of the train close in front of the last soldier’s nose. His colleagues turn their heads as the train rolls out of the station, leaving their comrade behind. The abandoned soldier bravely stayed in his role, hesitantly stepping back from the edge and standing awkwardly on the platform until the end of the video, his gaze fixed straight ahead.
The “Squid Game” stunt in the subway:
The funny, almost adorable footage was shared on The clip, which is less than 30 seconds long, now has around 26 million views, increasing the fascination surrounding the popular Korean drama series.
The Squid Game Phenomenon
The series debuted on Netflix in 2021 and remains the most-watched Netflix series of all time. The nine episodes tell the story of a man in debt who is taken to a secret island along with other people who are heavily in debt. There they play typical Korean children’s games with deadly consequences, but with the prospect of hefty prize money.
The second season was released on December 26, 2024 and broke the streaming record with 68 million viewers in the first four days. This was previously set up by the series “Wednesday”, which was published in 2022 and had around 50.1 million viewers.
Series creator Hwang Dong-hyuk is already talking about the third season of the series. This will apparently be the final season of “Squid Game” and the finale is scheduled to be released this year.
