Pius Paschke finished the qualification for the jumping in Innsbruck in eighth place. The Upper Bavarian was not the best German. This was a surprise to Philipp Raimund. The victory in went to the Austrian Jan Hörl.

“Qualification doesn’t count towards the overall ranking of the tour. It’s just about getting into position.”ARD commentator Tom Bartels made it clear again. Germany’s tour hopeful Pius Paschke had once again not shown the jump that he can show and missed the opportunity to “get into position” accordingly.

Tschofenig is only slightly better than Paschke

The man from WSV Kiefersfelden came eighth in the qualification (125.1 points). The tour leader, Austrian Daniel Tschofenig, was only slightly better, but placed ahead of Paschke (130.8 points).

Tschofenig’s teammate Jan Hörl secured victory with a jump of 135 meters ahead of Norway’s Johann Andre Forfang and Gregor Deschwanden from Switzerland (130 meters).

Geiger and Wellinger with difficulties

Karl Geiger was initially unable to build on his recent rising form in the capital of Tyrol. The current eighth in the overall ranking only flew at 120 meters (118.8 points).

Andreas Wellinger had a hard time. The Ruhpoldinger, who finished the tour last year in second place, jumped only a little further than his teammate Geiger. With a distance of 122 meters (119.0 points), like Geiger, he easily qualified for the third competition tomorrow, but missed the top ten.

Raimund surprises in qualifying

Philipp Raimund gained self-confidence in the qualification. The Oberstdorfer jumped to 124.5 meters and took the lead for a while and stayed there for a long time. Only the Norwegian Johann Andre Forfang passed him. In the end, Raimund was the best German in seventh place (129.2 points).

Paschke is clearly behind in the tour

Before the second-to-last competition, Pius Paschke is 25.3 points behind leader Daniel Tschofenig in sixth place in the overall ranking. In the remaining four jumps he would have to jump the equivalent of 3.5 meters further than the Austrian. After qualifying in Innsbruck, the task has not become any easier.
