Ex-Motörhead and current Scorpions drummer Mikkey Dee has revealed a serious illness that landed him in hospital over the Christmas holidays. The musician suffered blood poisoning as a result of a foot injury, but was saved from anything worse thanks to timely medical treatment.

In his statement shared on his social media channels, the Swedish native explained: “This holiday season I was in the hospital with a very serious blood infection (sepsis). I was admitted for three weeks, but now I’m at home fighting this nasty bacteria.” He thanked the doctors and nurses at the University Hospital in Gothenburg who looked after him during his stay. “I received fantastic care,” said the 61-year-old. “After several operations, the values ​​are now all on the right track.
