A huge drama for Airen Mylene. The presenter is regularly ‘extremely tired’ because she has jobs in radio and television, despite the fact that she also has help at home. “It takes a lot.”

You sometimes wonder how all those hardworking Dutch people with full-time jobs keep their family lives going when you hear all those radio and TV stars complaining about their terribly tough lives. A few hours of radio here, half an hour of TV there and they are completely exhausted and shout, sighing and sweating, that they are doing top sport.

Extreme fatigue

Well, there’s another one: Airen Mylene. She is one of the four (!) presenters of Shownieuws – she is barely there – and is also a sidekick in The 538 Afternoon Show, but she is tired. Completely broken.

At the request of Party how she ensures that everything runs smoothly at home, Airen sighs: “Well, then I have to run a kind of marathon with my work as a presenter of Shownieuws and my radio program. That takes a lot and sometimes causes extreme fatigue.”

Part-time job

Airen barely works part-time, but is that already extremely tired? What a drama. “But yes, I have help at home, so I can manage,” she says.

Hey? So a part-time job, help at home and still broken? Can someone test that woman for a vitamin B12 deficiency? Is there also a Marieke Elsinga-like complaining aunt in her? No, fortunately not. “Live TV is fast and radio is even faster. I love that speed and the unpolished nature of live television, but radio is even more so.”

40 years

Finally, Airen lets us know that she is almost 40 years old. “The fact that I’m turning forty is something my sister had to remind me of, because I thought: oh yes, indeed.”

She concludes: “I don’t know how I should feel at forty. No, I rely on my body, and as long as my body is happy – and it does – I don’t mind turning forty at all.”
