As of January 2025, at least 50 million euros in market value are necessary to be among the 100 most valuable footballers in the world. 122 players worldwide currently have at least this value, two more than in the last measurement period in November. Of them, 57 are still active in the Premier League. The others are spread across LaLiga (23 players/ -1 player), the Bundesliga (15/ +2), Serie A (15/ +2), Ligue 1 (8/ -1), the Portuguese league (2/ +1), the Süper Lig (1/+-0) and the Brazilian Série A (1/+1). Players from the Saudi Pro League are no longer there. The reasons for the market value changes in the individual leagues can be found here.

According to the autumn updates, the most valuable squads continue to be Real Madrid and Manchester City, despite losses, with 1.23 billion and 1.22 billion euros respectively (for statistics). However, both do not have the most players in this selection with eight and seven respectively: FC Barcelona (€1.02 billion) and Liverpool FC (€968 million) in fifth and sixth place each have ten professionals with at least 50 million . Euro market value in the team. In November this was also the case with Arsenal FC, Paris Saint-Germain and Manchester United (now all eight professionals each).

Lamine Yamal is getting closer to the top of the market value – 2 Bundesliga professionals in three figures

The Royals, represented by Vinicius Junior, and the Skyblues with Erling Haaland continue to form the double top in the market value ranking. Both are valued at 200 million euros and are therefore historically ahead together with Kylian Mbappé, who has now been devalued for sporting reasons for the first time in his career and is now only the fifth most valuable player at 160 million euros. Mbappé was overtaken by the 17-year-old Barcelona youngster Lamine Yamal, who is shattering records both on the pitch and in terms of market values and is now worth 180 million euros.

Of the 17 players with a three-digit million market value – one less than in November – five play at Real Madrid (two less) – and two in the Bundesliga: Bayern Munich’s offensive star Jamal Musiala (€140 million) and Bayer 04 Leverkusen’s mastermind Florian Wirtz (€140 million) were upgraded by €10 million each and are now in seventh place worldwide. The two national players are the most valuable German professionals in the 20-year history of market value on Transfermarkt and have extended this record. Meanwhile, Harry Kane fell from the 100 million euro club to 90 million euros – purely due to age for the 31-year-old.

Of the 15 Bundesliga professionals among the 100 most valuable footballers, seven play at Bayern (-1), two at Bayer 04 (+-0), four at RB Leipzig (+1) and one at BVB, who after Jamie’s upgrade Gittens is represented again by 15 million to 50 million euros. Eintracht Frankfurt is also moving into the statistics thanks to Omar Marmoush’s ongoing breakthrough (+20 million to €60 million). In addition to Dortmund and Frankfurt, 13 other teams are represented with one player each.

This is how transfer market market values work

The transfer market market values are created taking into account various pricing models as well as a strong involvement of the transfer market community, which deals with the values in detailed discussions. The transfer market market values cannot generally be equated with the transfer fees actually paid.

The goal is not to predict a price, but rather an expected value. When determining the market value, both individual transfer modalities and situational conditions are relevant to a certain extent. Examples of this will be here listed. Transfermarkt does not use an algorithm (for a detailed definition of market value).
