Zalando is also shortening the return period from 100 to 30 days in Germany.
The Berlin-based online retailer confirmed that the changes would also affect the German market after a newsletter to Dutch customers informed them before the turn of the year. Orders placed on or after January 7th have a thirty day return policy. Previously there was a deadline of one hundred days. Returns remain free of charge.
Zalando regularly checks the wishes and needs of its customers, the statement says. The online retailer discovered that more than 90 percent of returns occur within the first 30 days. The shorter return period is also intended to increase the availability of items.
“The change in the return period from 100 to 30 days is not expected to have a significant impact on our customers’ shopping behavior, but will further improve the shopping experience for everyone. For this reason, we have decided to change our policy accordingly and are convinced that this adjustment will be beneficial for our customers.”
