Eva Jinek shocked the Dutch talk show world last year by suddenly sitting down at an avocado table. And the experiment was successful. “But an orange table would also score.”

It was a transfer that no one understood: the move of Eva Jinek from RTL 4 to NPO 1. The presenter gave up an extreme amount of money and free time, but now she gets something in return: where she works at RTL was with associated mediocre viewing figures, she again scores familiarly high viewing figures at the NPO.

Orange table

Eva is basically on the air for the entire TV season with her own talk show. She distinguishes herself with, among other things, an avocado table, but according to Telegraaf reporter Jordi Versteegden, that is not why her talk show is such a success. “Even if it was an orange table, I think she would still have scored,” he says in one Telegraph video.

Why then? “Because she just came up with something clever. Look, the best formats are simply formats that you can explain very easily. Eva has chosen to cover three topics per broadcast. That is fifteen minutes per subject and they will highlight it well and that apparently works very well at that time.”

Big 9

What grades does Jordi give to Eva and her talk show? “I think it’s a really big 9. I think it’s very clever. Her talk show is rock solid. She consistently scores around 900 thousand viewers. I think it’s great that it’s happening so quickly within a few months, because she started in August.”

And Bar Laat? “That’s a 5.5, looking at the viewing figures. I also think that Jeroen Pauw is not getting his due. It’s just not a pleasant show to watch. We also live in a time when there are many wars and violence. People also watch television to be entertained. That’s not the case when you watch an NPO talk show.”

And what about VI?

Today Inside gets a 7.5 to an 8 from Jordi. “Compare today’s program to last year’s. It’s the same and the riots are still there. The men have signed for another two years after next summer. Or is the stretch over? I secretly think so, to be honest.”

“You can see from René van der Gijp that he is less interested in it. He also shows it very much. When they recently signed that contract, René van der Gijp also said: ‘I am very happy that I can have that Wednesday off’, but not: ‘I am happy that we will continue for another two years.’”
