Will Niels van der Laan and Jeroen Woe, the men of Even Tot Hier, also switch to RTL in 2025? Just like Arjen Lubach? It wouldn’t surprise Jordi Versteegden. “Interesting.”

It is the most striking TV transfer in recent times: that of Arjen Lubach from the NPO to RTL 4. The reason is ultimately simply money. More money for the program, more money for the editors and most importantly: more money for Arjen. “And it wouldn’t surprise me if he also starts working with live music,” says Jordi Versteegden.

Cachet

Telegraaf reporter Jordi thinks that live music can give Arjen’s program more cachet. He says in a video: “That simply requires money and that was not available at the NPO. I think that can still increase the atmosphere.”

And other NPO members will also be jealous of the opportunities at RTL, he thinks. “It is not a pleasant period at the NPO at the moment. That’s because of all the riots that took place there. It was this year that the Van Rijn report was presented. There are a lot of presenters out there who are wondering: where does my future lie?”

Restrictions

More NPO stars will want to follow Arjen, Jordi thinks. “We were just talking about the budget — that is a reason to resign — but it also has to do with all those restrictions and regulations that the NPO is subject to. People wonder: does my future lie here or perhaps with the commercial companies?”

Will the Even Tot Hier duo Niels van der Laan and Jeroen Woe also go after it? Jordi thinks so. “I thought: it wouldn’t be very strange that the men from Even Tot Hier, who are very successful at BnnVara, are really the flagship there at the moment, that at a certain point they think: yes, what is there for us here? still to be achieved?”

Around the corner

A switch wouldn’t be strange, according to Jordi. “Not least because Even Tot Hier is also produced by MediaLane, the company of Joop van den Ende’s daughter. They are also producing more and more at RTL. It wouldn’t surprise me if at some point those men also look around the corner and go to RTL.”

RTL also offers a creative outlet with Videoland. “It is becoming an increasingly larger platform with an increasingly larger reach. Then it becomes increasingly interesting for other presenters to switch.”
