Swedish Princess Madeleine’s life changed when she moved to Sweden.
Whereas in other courts, such as the British court and the court of the neighboring country Norway, it happened and happened, the past year of the Swedish court was calmer.
The princess brought sadness to the court Birgitta death in December. Birgitta was 87 years old when she died, and she was escorted to her last journey in Stockholm on December 15.
On the other hand, Madeleine and her family’s move back home to Sweden after 14 years spent abroad brought joy to the court.
Surprise announcement
Madeleine, her husband Chris O’Neill and children Leonore, Nicholas and Adrienne had already lived in Florida for years, when a surprise announcement came from the Swedish court in March 2023: The family is moving back to Sweden.
– Right now we can say that Princess Madeleine and Chirs O’Neill have decided to move to Sweden with their children. They settle down to live in the same apartment where Madeleine lived before, the court spokesman said Margareta Thorgren said to Aftonbladet.
The reason for the move is that the couple wants their children to have a Swedish upbringing.
– Madeleine and Chris O’Neill have made this decision. They are excited that the children will get a Swedish upbringing, Thorgren continues.

Madeleine has previously complained about the hot Florida air.
– We spend much more time outdoors in Sweden than here in Florida. It’s so hot here that you can only be outside for a short time at a time. The children like to run in the forest and I also miss outdoor activities, Madeleine said recently in an interview with Mama magazine.
The date of the move was said to be August 2023, i.e. shortly before the start of school.
However, there were several bumps in the road and the family did not move to Sweden in August of the following year. It wasn’t Chris’s immigration red tape or problems selling the condo in Florida.
– Nothing like this is the reason, there is simply too little time, Thorgren told Expressen.
Chris is not a Swedish citizen, so he had a bit of a paperwork war when moving to Sweden.
In the end, the move was delayed by as much as a year, meaning the family did not settle in Stockholm until August 2024.

The family’s new home is located in the royal court stables in Östermalm, Stockholm’s prestigious district. Court stables are familiar to Madeleine, as she lived there before moving abroad.
There are a total of ten buildings in the area, two of which are horse stables. Other buildings have, among other things, residential apartments.
After moving, Madeleine has been spotted several times in everyday activities in Östermalm.
The children of the family Leonore10, Nicholas9, and Adrienne6, have started a Swedish school. Opinahjo is reportedly the same school that Madeleine attended as a child, and it is located near the family’s apartment.
The move to Sweden has of course also been big for the family’s children, who have previously visited the country mostly only for summer vacations. Madeleine herself said a few months ago that Adrienne has not even seen a proper autumn before.
– Adrienne and Teddy experience a fresh and cold autumn for the first time, Madeilen wrote at the end of September.
A cheating scandal
Madeleine left Sweden in April 2010, when her engagement lawyer by Jonas Bergström with had erupted. Bergström had been caught cheating. The media frenzy around the topic was wild.
Madeleine started a new life in New York, where she had already lived at the corners of her friends. In 2010, he rented a two-bedroom apartment in New York. He worked at the Childhood charity founded by his mother, Queen Silvia.
Madeleine just met Chris in New York. The couple moved under the same roof in the fall of 2011. The luxury apartment was located in the heart of Manhattan.

The couple got married in the summer of 2013, and many in Sweden expected the family to settle in the princess’s homeland. It was the other way around. Madeleine and Chris stayed to live in the United States, where their first child, Leonore, was born in February 2014.
The next life change was ahead in 2015, when the family moved to Europe, but not to Sweden at all, but to London, where Chris is from.
– Madeleine and I have decided that we will live in London so that I can take care of my work. I don’t want to come home alone to a hotel room at night. I want to come home to my family and have dinner with them. Nothing else is important. It’s me who brings the bread to the table. First of all, I have to think about my family, businessman Chris justified the family’s move to London.
Madeleine and Chris returned to the United States, this time to Florida, in 2018. During the years in London, the family had grown to five people, when Leonore had little siblings Nicolas and Adrienne.
So they spent six years in Florida.

The public has speculated that the main reason for the move is that the children have to go to school in Sweden in order to maintain their status as princesses and princes.
This despite the fact that Kaarle Kustaa decided in the fall of 2019 that Madeleine’s children no longer have the rights of members of the royal family and will not participate in court representation duties in the future. They still get to keep their title and crown succession.
After her move, Madeleine herself has once been the regent of Sweden, when both King Charles Kustaa and the crown princess Victoria were on holiday in Brazil in October.
The trip was full of scandals for Madeleine, because originally she was also supposed to go to Brazil. However, for some reason they suddenly canceled their participation.
