Miss Finland 2007 Noora Hautakangas40, says on Instagram having undergone an iron infusion. Hautakangas writes in the update he published over the weekend about his symptoms that continued throughout the year, for which he finally got help before Christmas.
In his update, Hautakangas has published a picture of himself in a hospital bed. The picture was taken at the time of the iron infusion, around the middle of December.

– In January, due to feeling weak, I went for blood tests, which revealed that my ferritin level was 7. So it’s no wonder that I feel weak, because the iron stores are quite empty, Hautakangas writes on Instagram.
– So already at the beginning of the year, I received a referral for an iron infusion from the doctor, but it was agreed that we would still test different iron medicines, if it could be increased with them and even more iron-rich food.

Hautakangas says that in December the iron values were still below the limit values. Hautakangas still talks about his continued symptoms.
– The fatigue has been enormous at times and a veil of fog in the eyes. Heart rate rose sensitively and miraculous palpitations from time to time. Loss of appetite, weakness, dizziness. I was cold all the time, Hautakangas lists.
Finally, in December, Hautakangas made an appointment for an iron infusion. The procedure lasted about an hour and a half.
– The infusion itself went really well for me, but in the days after the infusion, instead, I felt quite flustered, I was weak and unwell, and on the third night my heart rate was skyrocketing and I also had nausea. Since then, I have been feeling ok and according to the doctor, after two weeks of the infusion, you can already start to feel a change in your mood. Maybe somehow it already feels like the fog curtain has already dissipated a little.
Hautakangas says that in her case, heavy periods and a meat-free diet affect her iron deficiency, but it is possible that the underlying cause is also the functioning of the intestines and the iron is not absorbed properly.
– For quite a long time I had to endure it tired and weak. As I said to the doctor who wrote the referral: I just wish I could finally turn all the lights back on. Maybe the rest of the lamps will light up again next year, Hautakangas concludes.
