Beatrice Chebet really showed off at the New Year’s Eve run in Barcelona. She beat the world record by almost 20 seconds.

Double Olympic champion Beatrice Chebet set a world record over five kilometers on the road at the New Year’s Eve run in Barcelona. The 24-year-old Kenyan clocked 13:54 minutes, 19 seconds below the record of runners in men’s and women’s races. The record was previously held by her compatriot Agnes Jebet Ngetich.

The World Athletics Association also has a world record for all-women’s races, where Chebet set the still valid record a year ago when she won in Barcelona in 14:13 minutes.

At the Olympic Games in Paris in the summer, Chebet won gold in the 5,000 and 10,000 meters on the track.
