Atmospheric stalls with locally made products, delicious food and drinks and of course good music. That’s the Drenthe 1000 Winter Fair in a nutshell. RTV Drenthe is opening its doors wide today for the second edition of the event.
Seventeen exhibitors will be available for three days at Beilerstraat 30 in Assen with a diverse range of products. And while you stroll across the winter-dressed square, you can enjoy songs from the musical end-of-year hit list: the Drenthe 1000.
“Compared to last year, we have a lot of new exhibitors. There is something for everyone,” says Ingrid Matien on behalf of the organization of the winter fair. You can find wool products, jewelry, jigsaw puzzles, Drenthe books, TT-related items and all kinds of gadgets with an agricultural touch. “And just like last year, children can have their faces painted and even take a make-up workshop.”
A catering square has been set up at the winter fair, because food and drinks are also widely available at the various stalls. The inner person can be strengthened with, for example, a ball sandwich, chocolate kisses and hot chocolate. And a special photo spot has been set up near the square, where you can be immortalized in a winter scene, complete with polar bears and snow-covered Christmas trees.
Visitors to the winter fair also have the opportunity to look around at RTV Drenthe. “There are guided tours of the building three times a day,” says Matien. And that gives visitors the opportunity to experience the ultimate Drenthe 1000 feeling. “Because of course you get a look at the radio studio. But we also visit our television studio.”
The winter fair runs until Sunday, December 29 between 10 a.m. and 5 p.m. Admission is free. People who come by car have the option to park at the Beilerstraat or one of the parking garages in Assen, at the applicable rates. Many garages in the city are within walking distance of RTV Drenthe.
