At the start of the Four Hills Tournament
“Total crash”: German ski jumper served

Stephan Leyhe was there at the start of the tour in Oberstdorf. But the ski jumper disappointed in the first round.
Things went well in the rehearsal, but poorly in the competition. For Stephan Leyhe, the start of the tour in Oberstdorf was over after the first round. The DSV eagle jumped just 114.5 meters. His opponent Benjamin Östvold from Norway flew 17 meters further and clearly won the duel. Since Leyhe wasn’t one of the top five losers, his early exit in Oberstdorf was sealed early.
Accordingly, Leyhe also appeared frustrated in the ZDF interview. “I’m having a hard time on the hill. In the rehearsal it goes well, I end up around 15th place. Then you want to do the same thing again, but you don’t have quite the same feedback as in the rehearsal. And then it’s actually a total failure.” said the 32-year-old.
Leyhe is in 31st place in the overall World Cup. That made his 48th place in Oberstdorf all the more disappointing for him. Only the Finnish Kasperi Valto and the American Casey Larson finished behind the German.
