Fourth defeat from the last five games: Basketball world champion Dennis Schröder suffered his next setback with the Golden State Warriors in the NBA.
Without the injured Stephen Curry (knee) and Draymond Green (back), the Warriors lost 92:102 to the Los Angeles Clippers on Friday (local time, December 27, 2024).
Schröder had seven points and five assists. After his move from Brooklyn, it was the fourth defeat in the fifth game.
Theis convinces, but the Pelicans still lose
Rookie Tristan da Silva and World Cup champion Daniel Theis also lost with their teams. Da Silva’s Orlando Magic had no chance against the New York Knicks (85:108) without the injured Wagner brothers Franz and Moritz (85:108), da Silva remained without points, and league newcomer Ariel Hukporti did not play for the Knicks.
Theis impressed with eleven points and eleven rebounds, but could not prevent his New Orleans Pelicans from losing 124:132 to the Memphis Grizzlies.
Jokic’s triple-double isn’t enough for Denver to win
Maximilian Kleber celebrated the only success by a German player. Without the exceptional player Luka Doncic, who injured his calf, his Dallas Mavericks beat the Phoenix Suns 98:89, with Kleber scoring 15 points and seven rebounds.
The biggest show was put on by the two top teams in the East: the Boston Celtics and the Cleveland Cavaliers. Champion Boston rolled over the Indiana Pacers 142:105, Jaylen Brown scored 44 points.
Cleveland defeated the Denver Nuggets for MVP Nikola Jokic on the road 149:135. Jokic’s triple-double (27 points, 14 rebounds, 13 assists) wasn’t enough for Denver to win.
