Mohamed Salah is currently in top form at Liverpool FC. However, he was sharply criticized by some fans on Instagram due to a Christmas post.
Premier League star Mohamed Salah has been heavily criticized for his social media post. Reason: The Liverpool FC striker posted a photo of himself and his family under the Christmas tree on Instagram at Christmas with the addition “#MerryChristmas”.
The Egyptian then received numerous insulting comments from users who accused him of celebrating Christmas as a Muslim.
In the picture, Salah, his wife Magi and his two daughters Makka and Kayan can be seen in their Christmas partner look in front of an overly decorated artificial tree. One user commented disappointedly: “At this point I’m just disappointed in you bro.”
Another went further and wrote: “Mark my words: You will not score a single goal until the end of the season because you have disrespected our beloved Prophet and the entire Muslim community.”
However, there were also supportive voices among the comments. A fan encouraged Salah by saying: “Merry Christmas Mo. Ignore all these idiots. I hope you and your family have a well-deserved Christmas.”
Salah himself has not yet responded to the criticism. He has already scored 16 league goals and provided eleven assists this season, making him Liverpool’s most important offensive player. The LFC is currently at the top of the Premier League table.
Salah has been playing for Liverpool since 2017 and won the Champions League with them in 2019. A year later he won the English championship. He has also since won the English Cup (2022), the FIFA Club World Cup (2020) and the English League Cup (2022 and 2024) with the club.
He was also the Premier League’s top scorer three times (2018, 2019 and 2022) and was named England’s Footballer of the Year twice (2018 and 2022). In 374 competitive games for LFC, Salah has 230 goals and 103 assists.
