A special moment for the organ builders of Flentrop from Zaandam. After many years of work, the church organ they made for a church in Osnabrück is ready for the unveiling. In a celebration with about 300 people, the organ was officially inaugurated. “It’s really worth it when you see it like this,” says wood workshop manager Wiete van der Putten enthusiastically.
Director Erik Winkel of Flentrop Orgelbouw first visited the St. Johann Church in Osnabrück ten years ago, which, if lucky, is about a three-hour drive from his office. After many consultations between the Germans and the professionals, the organ in the video above is the result.
Is he melancholic now? “It is not a child that you abandon, but a child that thrives. Maybe a little melancholic, but very happy.”
