A caravan was completely destroyed by fire in Smilde at the end of the evening yesterday. This was at an intersection of the Linthorst Homanweg.
Young people stood around the caravan watching with music and something to drink.
In Smilde and neighboring villages such as Hoogersmilde and Bovensmilde, caravans are regularly set on fire at the end of the year. For example, two years ago between Christmas and New Year, a caravan also went up in flames on Koningin Wilhelminalaan. In 2021, there were three hits in three days in Smilde, Bovensmilde and Hoogersmilde.
Nothing was left of the caravan that caught fire in Smilde last night. The fire brigade eventually had the fire under control quickly.
