What exactly is going on with Astrid Joosten? During a special tasting she drank a red Pommard from Burgundy, made by Belgian winemaker Sofie Bohrmann. The glass touched her so deeply that it almost made her cry. An emotion that only people with such a refined palate as Astrid know.

Almost crying

As Astrid in the LINDA. When asked when she last drank a wine that completely blew her mind, she says: “A few weeks ago. It was a Burgundy, a red Pommard. Of course I know what a Burgundy should taste like and it is often a disappointment. Too stiff, too stiff.”

This time everything was different. “This wine from Belgian winemaker Sofie Bohrmann was so well made, so perfectly balanced, it almost made me cry. And we had cooled it just right.”

23 degrees

We now understand something completely different by room temperature, says Astrid. “Nowadays, with all that double glazing and central heating, it can easily reach 23 degrees inside. That’s really too warm for a red wine. That is why a wine cooler or a climate cabinet is not an unnecessary luxury.”

Finally: does Astrid ever just buy a glass of wine at Albert Heijn? “Absolutely not.”

That wine is also a shame, she thinks. But for another reason: too little…
