38 people died in the disaster on December 25th. It is a mystery why the flight attempted an emergency landing hundreds of kilometers from its destination
While waiting for the black box, which has been recovered, to begin to clarify some aspects of the Aktau plane crash in Kazakhstan, which caused 38 deaths, several hypotheses emerge. One is that the Azerbaijan Airlines airliner, an Ebramer 190, was hit by shrapnel from an explosion that occurred outside the aircraft. On the morning of December 25, flight J2-8243 was supposed to fly from Baku to Grozny but, mid-route, it diverted to the opposite shore of the Caspian Sea, hundreds of kilometers from its destination, precisely in Aktau in Kazakhstan, where it crashed to the ground near the local airport in an attempt to make an emergency landing. A normal scheduled flight that should have lasted just over an hour turned into a wandering in the skies that lasted over two and a half hours until the disaster. There are 29 survivors. The Kazakh Prosecutor’s Office has opened an investigation and Azerbaijan has also announced its own investigation.
GPS interference
—
The Flightradar24 website which recorded the plane’s flight data stated that the aircraft suffered severe GPS disturbances which transmitted incorrect data. In the past, Russia had been criticized for GPS interference in a large area. The data available on the site, and therefore possibly untrue, describe the last 20 minutes of the Ebramer’s flight as a continuous up and down between 4 and 6 thousand feet of altitude when the plane was close to Aktau. In reality, the irregular progress of the flight is also demonstrated by a video, the origin of which is not verified, which films the last minutes of the aircraft’s flight and of which, in this article, the final part is shown.
unverified videos
—
What is certain is that so far there are many video testimonies that have not been verified compared to the dutifully prudent official statements. In this context, two videos would testify to two other facts. A man films the inside of the cabin with the plane in flight. You can hear his prayers, you can see some of the masks outside the compartments and some minor damage inside the cabin. Another film on the wreckage of the plane highlights numerous holes from objects coming from outside on the tail rudders of the aircraft: at first glance they resemble bullet holes or those caused by splinters from an explosive device. Even in this case the origin of the video cannot be verified.
too early for hypotheses
—
Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev said it was too early to speculate but specified that it was the weather conditions in the Grozny area that determined the plane’s change of route. The Russian aviation agency Rosaviatsia had initially stated that the change of course had occurred due to the impact of the Ebramer with a flock of birds.
