A car and a company van were completely destroyed by a fire last night. This happened at the Zuidenveld in Assen.
The fire brigade was alerted to a car fire around three o’clock in the morning, and at the scene it turned out to be a van with flames coming out of it. The car parked next to it was severely damaged by the fire and heat.
After about fifteen minutes, the fire brigade had the fire under control. The company van and the car both appear to belong to the same owner.
The police immediately started an investigation into the cause of the fire and are considering arson. Both vehicles must be considered lost, as must the contents of the company bus. It mainly contained tools and DIY materials.
