The MotoGP world champion had his say on the relationship with Pecco, on what he learned in 2023 and beyond
Jorge Martin won the world championship MotoGP 2024 riding the Ducati of the Pramac team. The Spaniard was present at the Fim Awards, the end-of-year awards ceremony of the International Motorcycling Federation, in Palma de Mallorca, on which occasion we interviewed him. The future Aprilia rider spoke about what he learned from the 2023 World Championship, which he narrowly lost, about his relationship with Bagnaia and beyond.
How much did the lessons learned in the 2023 World Cup help you to win in 2024?
”Definitely a lot. 2023 was a good year, but also difficult for me, especially on a mental level. I saw a margin on which I could work and I started doing so immediately in January of this year. I quickly made a change of mentality that brought me to where I am today. I’m very happy because it’s important to learn from the past.”
With Pecco you have been competing since you were little and now you are both MotoGP champions. Would he ever have expected this?
”We have certainly always dreamed of it. When we were in Aspar I never expected that the two of us would be the ‘dominators’ of these years. I hope it will be like this for many others, but for the moment I am happy.”
With Pecco you ran on equal terms. In 2025, Marquez will ride the bike that many believed would go to her. Would you have liked to challenge Marc on equal terms?
“For me we have already done it this year. The GP24 was a little different, there were some points where it was better than the GP23, but others where it was worse. I already have my challenge with Pecco and Marc done, now I try other challenges.”
