THERE WERE FREQUENT DISCUSSIONS
The general assembly was quite tense.
Olympic runner-up and former national boxer Atagün Yalçınkaya also made a speech and criticized the current president, Eyüp Gözgeç, saying, “I condemn Mr. Eyüp, who did not write me as a delegate in the previous elections, even though I had the right to do so. The Ministry of Youth and Sports said ‘stop’ to this and now I am before you as a delegate.” “Eyüp Bey has been harming boxing for many years.” he said.
Taking the floor upon these criticisms, Eyüp Gözgeç invited the general assembly to remain calm and said, “Everyone is a friend here. There will be an election. Please be respectful. Let’s not make accusations in the speeches.” he said.
During the election, the speeches of the presidential candidates were frequently interrupted by the members of the general assembly.
