Only 79 minutes this season

Werder Bremen paid Cercle Bruges 4 million euros for Olivier Deman in the summer of 2023, exactly the same as in previous years for Jens Stage and Marvin Ducksch. While the latter two are among the most important pillars in Ole Werner’s team, the 24-year-old Belgian hardly plays a role anymore. That’s why the door is open for a sale in winter.
Deman was on the pitch for just 79 minutes this season, compared to 1,741 last year. The left-footed player had already lost his regular spot on the wing to Felix Agu (25) in the second half of the season. With the signing of Derrick Köhn (25) from Galatasaray, the chances of securing a regular place continued to shrink.

Deman’s salary, who was still a Belgian international when he arrived, is too high for a supplementary player. According to a “Bild” report, the seventh in the table would be willing to talk about leaving if there was a suitable offer, either as a loan or as a sale. Deman’s contract on the Weser runs until 2028.
The longer those responsible wait before selling, the less money there is likely to be for the player given the sporting situation. In the calendar year 2024, Deman’s market value halved from 6 to 3 million euros. Peter Niemeyer, head of the licensed games department at Werder, is quoted by the paper as saying: “Everyone will be thinking about their future over the Christmas period. It is clear that Olivier Deman is not happy with his situation.”
