A large fire broke out this morning in a farmhouse with a large barn on the Hoofdstraat in Roderwolde. The flames are shooting high from the thatched roof of the building.
According to the Drenthe Safety Region, there are no people or animals inside. “Because the fire is spreading rapidly, additional fire trucks are needed,” a spokesperson said. According to a witness, the fire threatens to spread to surrounding buildings. The fire brigade is trying to save adjacent buildings by keeping them wet. The farmhouse appears to be completely lost.
Large clouds of smoke can be seen in the area. A NL alert has now been issued due to the smoke development. It is recommended to close windows and doors.
