Where now only piles of rubble are visible due to a devastating fire, there once stood a chic entertainment venue. After the Second World War, Bad Riche was the hotspot for the wealthy Netherlands for many years. In the 1970s, when the glamor began to fade, it became a location for beauty pageants, record presentations, radio broadcasts, galas, weddings and television registrations.

A Zandvoort resident with a beach bar nearby has fond memories of Bad Riche. “I made my first dance steps here as a young boy,” he says. “This is pure nostalgia. It’s a pity that it is no longer there. On the other hand, the building had been empty for years, it had nothing to do with Riche in recent years. Maybe they can now build something beautiful there again.”

Four teenagers arrested

Police arrested four teenagers in the investigation into the cause of the fire. Two of them reported to officers who were present at the fire. Two other suspects were later arrested. They allegedly started a fire, after which the fire quickly spread to the building. It was windy on the coast on Sunday afternoon.
