OREvery year, Christmas brings with it indispensable traditions, and among these the letter to Santa Claus by Luciana Littizzetto to What’s the weather like?. With a mix of sharp irony and references to current eventsthe comedian knows how to entertain and, often, spark discussion. This year, his biting satire hit the mark, triggering the usual chorus of laughter and, inevitably, some storm on social media. But what did Littizzetto really say in his latest letter?

Luciana Littizzetto’s letter to Santa Claus, between electric sleighs and concerts

«Dear Santa Claus, you who come back as punctual as Irpef…». This is how the little letter begins, a light irony that soon becomes sharper. Littizzetto questions contemporary issues: «Have you switched to the electric sled? We need to emit less!”. There is no lack of a jab at Italian public transport, with a surreal suggestion for the Railways: «Give them the time zone of Bolivia, so it seems that the trains arrive on time». And, on the Capitoline front, the appeal to Mayor Gualtieri for the New Year’s concert after the Tony Effe case: “Bring him someone to perform, the stage is empty!”.

Some controversy due to the geopolitical references

Not everything, however, brought laughter. A passage from the letter lit up social media: «Bring Trump, Musk, Putin, Zelensky, Netanyahu, Erdogan and Kim Jong-un a ruler, so they understand who has it longer». This joke raised a wave of online criticism. Many users accused Littizzetto of equating leaders of different natures and contexts, defining the comparison between Zelensky and Putin as unacceptable. In complex times, even a letter to Santa Claus can cause problems.
