The seaquake that occurred in the Indian Ocean on December 26, 2004, led to a tsunami that was felt in almost all coastal areas around the Indian Ocean. Officially, the balance is almost 230,000 deaths in 14 countries. This makes this tsunami one of the worst natural disasters of the past 100 years, and the worst natural disaster ever in Indonesia, Sri Lanka and Thailand. Eleven Belgians also died.
