Public prosecutor wants to prosecute childminder and her husband after the death of 8-month-old baby Omélie: “He had not put the baby bed together correctly”

The slatted base of his baby bed collapsed. Little Omélie (8 months) slid down and suffocated. This happened during an afternoon nap with his host mother in Eernegem, West Flanders. Striking: more than two years later, the public prosecutor’s office now wants to bring not only the host mother, but also her husband to court, because he had put the bed together. “No one wanted this. But it should never have happened,” says Omélie’s mother.
