Thomas van Groningen, who is active again as a political analyst for Today Inside, states that Thierry Baudet keeps begging him for media appearances. “He asks when he can be on TV again.”
Thierry Baudet’s heyday is already quite far behind him and he currently does not play a significant role in Dutch politics, but he would still like to be seen on radio and television more often. He wants to use that media attention to rise again in the polls, but unfortunately he is not being heard in Hilversum.
Thierry begs
Thomas van Groningen says that Thierry regularly approaches him. “I often have Baudet come to me and ask when he can finally be on television again. Yes, I’m not talking about that, I say,” he says in the column In The Walkways.
Then Wilfred Genee indicates that he has the same experiences. “He always asks when he can come to BNR again and he wants to sit at the table with us.”
Runaway
Wilfred has not had very good experiences with Thierry. “He once ran away from you with that book,” Thomas remembers.
That is still bizarre, says Wilfred. “Yes, isn’t it very strange when you come as a political leader and you only want to talk about your book and not about your political views? That’s quite idiotic.”
Block by Wilders
Does Thomas have a professional relationship with everyone in The Hague? “Well, Wilders once blocked me on X, on Twitter, but when I ask him a question with a camera, he always gives a polite answer and is also very friendly.”
“I don’t remember, I think it was during the BNR days that I once tweeted something critical about him or something. Then he blocked me, but other than that I think I’m good with everyone.”
