Eline de Ruig, one of the show experts from Shownieuws, states that Claude and his team lied in the run-up to his election as a Eurovision entry. “This is what they said to us!”

It was a huge surprise for show expert Eline de Ruig when it was announced yesterday that Claude will represent our country in the Eurovision Song Contest next year. She states that the singer and his team have not been completely honest, because they previously denied having submitted a song to the committee at all.

Claude lied

Strange, Eline thinks. “I thought it was a surprise, because I really thought: it was going to be Anouk or Douwe Bob. The joke was also that after the registration period of November 22, we called Claude’s manager, saying: ‘Have you submitted a song?’, because he hinted at that a bit,” she says in Show news.

She continues: “Then the manager said: ‘No, we didn’t do it anyway, because he is busy and we will see next year.’ But yes, he still participates. Well, nice.”

Young guy

Eline has no grudge against Claude. She supports his participation. “He’s a young guy, 21 years old, but very refreshing I think. He is very sympathetic and I think he seems very nice. He has a good story and two hits to his name, but it still remains a bit of a risk.”

“I don’t think he’s going to make a threatening move towards a camerawoman, Claude would never do that, but he’s only been here for two years. I think it’s quite tough for him, because he has to do it now.”

Safe choice

Ronald Molendijk speaks of a ‘very safe choice’. He had also submitted a song himself. He would also end up on the podium himself.

She is not concerned about Claude’s age. “Very long conversations are had with these types of guys, including with management, which we should not believe.”

Eline: “No, hahaha.”
