It was so predictable that yesterday was quite boring: the men from Today Inside signed a new, two-year contract live on television. When is the next round? “In April 2027.”
The men of Today Inside have reached a conclusion with Talpa: they will continue to make a daily talk show on SBS 6 for another two years. “Let’s be honest: we have already signed him,” said Wilfred Genee last night in Today Inside. Johan Derksen then says: “We already signed it six weeks ago!” Wilfred laughing: “Yes, that’s what I mean, yes!”
Victory
So the viewer has been fooled for six weeks. Anyway, the men of VI stay, as predicted. Johan: “I think that, we can say, this is a victory for the whole of the Netherlands, that we will stay for another two years. I think our target group is extremely happy.”
They do it for the people, says Johan. “When you meet people… Look, I’m at an age: if it doesn’t happen, that’s fine too, but when you meet people, they are really working on it.”
Two years
It is Johan in particular who pushed for a contract of two and not one year. “I agreed with De Mol on one thing: when there are contract negotiations, it is always a lot of hassle. Then I said to him: ‘For God’s sake, let’s do two years, otherwise you’ll be here with the bullshit again next year,’” he says in Show news.
Wilfred: “I said to René: we can actually sign for one year, right? He said, ‘Sign two years! Johan is going to die next year!’ I said, ‘Yes, of course you don’t know that!’”
April 2027
When will the next VI contract circus start? Wilfred: “I’ll check when the term starts again, so you can put that in your agenda! You have to start negotiating again in April 2027, it says here!”
Is Wilfred completely out with John de Mol? “We met again on Tuesday and we had a very good conversation and we came out of it fine.”
Own program
Wilfred demanded his own program. “Airtime is made available, a certain budget is made available, I also have to come up with a budget myself and then we will see if there are options for that. That is the idea now.”
“What John also rightly said: ‘Let’s enjoy all this a bit, you know.’ We are making a fun program, as you say, let’s make it 2.5 fun years. He even wanted to have dinner together sometime.”
No energy
The contract was festively signed in Today Inside, with another performance by Marco Louwerens as Sinterklaas. Boresays VI expert Victor Vlam. “The broadcast was very slow in general. There wasn’t much sharpness to it. Furthermore, I didn’t think Sinterklaasje was that successful. You shouldn’t milk that,” he says X.
Victor even speaks of ‘very bad television’. And bar guest Ben van der Burg agrees. He says after the broadcast in Shownieuws: “There was no energy in it. As if they think: we have signed, never mind!”
And Wilfred: “I wasn’t in great shape today. I was a bit tired. I do notice that the end of the season — at least the first part of it — is coming a bit.”
