Katriina Wright, 21, who represented Finland at the European Championships in Rome, published a truly crushing video on Instagram.

Wright says he suffers from mental health problems. He cries profusely in the video.

– I have struggled with my mental health for a long time. I have experienced long periods of depression, but I don’t usually feel this hopeless, the runner writes.

– I feel so weak physically and mentally. I can’t bring myself to cheer up. I try, but I can’t. I’m trying to be positive, but I don’t have the energy to be positive at all, she sobs in the video.

In his publication, Wright reminds us that social media is only a backdrop to people’s real lives.

– We romanticize our lives on social media so that we never see bad moments. I myself have been involved in causing this problem. I have preached about positivity, even though it doesn’t always reflect my feelings, he writes.

The Finnish-American emphasizes that a sad mood is often caused by things in everyday life, and not by sports. However, if things go poorly on the sports field, the mental burden can easily become really big.

Wright ran for the Finnish team in the 4×400 meter relay at the European Championships in Rome, but otherwise competed the entire season in the United States, where he is studying.

Wright’s record for 400 meters is 52.39. He ran the time in the spring of 2023.
