After Gabriel Clemens, Niko Springer, the second German, has to give up the Darts World Cup in the first round. But he put up a great fight.
The German darts professional Niko Springer was eliminated in the first round after a big fight in his World Cup debut at Ally Pally in London. After a great fight he lost 1:3 to Scott William.
However, Springer delivered a respectable performance, causing problems for last year’s semi-finalist Williams from the start and taking a 1-0 lead. But “Shaggy” was undeterred and turned the high-class game in his favor. With the score at 1:2, Springer missed the finish to equalize and thus gave the Englishman the victory. With an average of 98.92 and seven 180s, the “Meenzer Bub” sold very expensively.
Previously, Callan Rydz beat Croatian Romeo Grbavac 3-0 in a first round game. The Englishman will face the seeded German number one Martin Schindler in round two on Sunday. The 28-year-old is the last of six German professionals to take part in the World Cup.
Earlier on Thursday, Gabriel Clemens had also lost 3-1 to Robert Owen in the first round.
