Dramatic twist a few days before December 31st, while all is silent from the Capitol
It just seems like the end Tony Effe will spend New Year’s Eve in concert in Romebut not at the Circus Maximus, where the traditional end-of-year musical event organized by the Campidoglio should be held. The Roman rapper, excluded from the official event of Roma Capitale after the controversies raised on various fronts, announced today, Thursday 19 December, a concert event at the Palazzo dello Sport in Rome for that same date, Wednesday 31 December 2024.

After having gathered the solidarity of many colleagues and others, from Naomi to Georgiefrom Emma to Vasco Rossi and Lazza, Tony Effe decided to respond with a counter event, a real one challenge at New Year’s Eve at the Circus Maximus which, to date, seems in the balance.
“Rome. See you on New Year’s Eve at the Palazzo Dello Sport. Tickets available from today at 7pm on Ticketone”, announced the rapper with a post on Instagram which attracted comments and shares in just a few minutes. Given the case that exploded in a few hours and the great solidarity received by the 33-year-old, his fans are already convinced that Tony Effe will not be alone on stagebut that would be packing an evening full of guests.

The fate of the great event organized by the Municipality of Rome for New Year’s Eve seems more uncertain than ever. There were three artists announced by the Capitoline administration for the event hosted by the voices of RDS Francesca Romana D’Andrea and Filippo Ferraro: Mahmood, Mara Sattei And Tony Effe. After Tony Effe’s exclusion from the event, Mahmood and Mara Sattei announced their decision to withdraw in solidarity with their colleague.
“I waited until the last minute because I was hoping to read different news than Tony Effe’s exclusion from the New Year’s Eve in Rome. I believe it is a form of censorship and therefore I also decide not to participate in the Capital’s New Year’s Eve. I am firmly convinced that any art form can be discussed and criticized, but there must be no censorship,” he wrote Mahmood in an Instagram story. And shortly after, again via Instagram, it arrived Mara Sattei’s position: “Given the decisions taken regarding the New Year’s Eve in Rome, I too will not take part in the event. I do not find it correct to prevent an artist from performing, depriving him of his freedom of expression.”
The official page of the event on the website of the municipality of Rome is no longer accessible and, with a few days to go until December 31st, it may not be easy to find important and available artists on that coveted date. From the Capitol, at the moment, no announcement about it.
