NoChristmas and the holiday season are getting closer and closer and, if you haven’t already, now is the right time to start planning the trips of the season. Whether it’s to go home and spend some time with your family or to catch up with someone dream destination in the heat or, on the contrary, one snowy destination to dedicate yourself to winter sports, you can take advantage of the break Christmas and take a holiday away from home.
Travel, in addition to the joy of leaving, of leaving behind – at least for a while – daily stress and thoughts of work, however, can sometimes also bring with them some organizational problems or during the trip itself. To avoid ruining our holiday, hi-tech comes to help to the most common problems that may occur, so as not to lose enthusiasm and resolve them quickly and without too much effort. In the gallery below some of the hi-tech tools which could be useful to avoid or resolve some of these possible unexpected events.
Travel insurance: it’s always better to get it
In 2021, traveling was one of the activities that was missed most and those few who had started traveling again had started to consider travel as a real investment, resorting more and more often to insurance policies more or less advantageous.
In 2024, once the pandemic has passed, 39% of the sample examined by research carried out by Tecnè for Federalberghi 2024, instead, they claim that they no longer take as many precautions when traveling and even 53% do not insure their trip unless it is compulsory (including vehicle rental insurance).
Nevertheless 26% of the same sample admits to having lost money precisely because they had not insured the trip, while 14% praise the prudence of having chosen to insure in the past, avoiding huge losses of money. But Prevention is better than cure: subscribing to insurance, even if you don’t use it, allows you to travel with peace of mind and save a large part of your savings in case of unforeseen events.

The most common unexpected events when traveling by plane
THE’airplane it is certainly – together with the train – the most used means of transport for long-distance journeys. However, the flying experience can turn into a sequence of inconveniences that test passengers’ patience. From endless queues to lack of transparency in communications and unexpected costs. AirHelpa company that deals with passenger assistance and airline compensation, has collected and analyzed the problems most reported by travelers from all over the world in its latest “Passenger Pain-Points Survey”.
The investigation, which involved passengers from Europe, the United States and Brazil, reveals the most critical moments of the airline experience with a look at what companies could improve to make travel more enjoyable.
The 6 inconveniences most hated by travellers
- Unclear information on delays and cancellations. 66% of passengers are frustrated by the lack of updates and information in case of problems and over half of those interviewed (57%) are dissatisfied by the lack of adequate replacement flights in case of delay or cancellation. Despite the various hi-tech tools available, these are not always updated in real time, causing problems and delays.
- Complicated refunds and compensation. For 63%, the processes for requesting reimbursement and compensation are too complex and often difficult to carry out.
- Long queues and chaos at the airport. Travelers report that time spent in queues and airport disorganization worsens their mood before they even get on the plane.
- Baggage and hidden costs. Severe restrictions and unexpected costs affect 64% of those interviewed, who would like greater clarity on the matter already at the booking stage.
- Lack of space on board. 63% of passengers said they felt “boxed”, without enough legroom.
- Hygiene and comfort on the plane. From the cleaning from the bathrooms to the wear of the seats, the on-board experience is still far from the expectations of many.
Even though these data are the result of research in the field of air travel, we are certain that most of these points – except the issue of luggage – can easily be considered valid also for those traveling by train.
