As of: December 18, 2024 11:26 p.m

The current edition of the Darts World Cup has its first nine-darter.

In a duel with the Latvian Madars Razma on Wednesday evening (December 18, 2024), Christian Kist achieved the first perfect game in the decisive leg of the first set, in which he reduced the 501 points to zero in just nine throws. This gave Kist a 1-0 lead.

Razma continues – Kist is happy about the prize money

For every perfect game, the main sponsor gives out 180,000 pounds (around 215,000 euros). The prize money is divided into thirds and distributed to the successful player, a fan and the good cause.

Despite the perfect leg, Kist ultimately wasn’t able to make it to the second round. Razma got into the game better after the first set, won three rounds in a row and won the duel 3-1. The Latvian will now face Dirk van Duijvenbode in round two.

Nebrida causes a surprise

The Filipino Paolo Nebrida had previously caused a surprise. Nebrida won against the world number 46. Jim Williams won 3-2 and made it into the second round of a World Championship for the first time in his third participation.

The Asian qualifier kept his nerve in the deciding set. However, his Welsh opponent, who went ahead on his own throw, missed three attempts to finish.

In the next round, Nebrida will face Ross Smith, number 19 on the Order of Merit.
