Serge Gnabry and FC Bayern: It has been an extremely fruitful combination so far. But the offensive player’s contract expires next year and both parties have not yet been able to agree on an extension. Now it becomes clear why.
FC Bayern Munich and Serge Gnabry have been talking about a contract extension for several months. In recent weeks, negotiations on extending the working paper beyond 2023 have become more concrete, but there is still no end in sight to the poker game. And that could remain the case for some time, as “Sky” now reports.
One of the reasons for this is that Gnabry is apparently extremely relaxed when it comes to the talks. The national player therefore sees no reason to rush. On the one hand because his contract still runs for another 15 months anyway, on the other hand because he knows “that the top clubs, especially Real Madrid and FC Barcelona, are keen on him,” says “Sky”. The two top Spanish clubs are keeping a close eye on the 26-year-old and his situation.
However, those responsible at FC Bayern continue to expect that Gnabry will ultimately extend to Säbener Straße. After Joshua Kimmich, Leon Goretzka and Kingsley Coman, the DFB kicker should be the next building block for the future, which will form an axis for the German series champion in the long term.
However, the bosses probably still have to stretch in the question of salary. According to the report, the two sides are still far apart there.
The “tz” recently explained that Gnabry feels comfortable in the team and in the city, but there is still potential for conflict.
Because the 26-year-old would like to move into the category of his winger colleagues Leroy Sané and Kingsley Coman in terms of salary. These should both earn significantly more than 15 million euros gross.
It is still open whether the club officials around Oliver Kahn and Hasan Salihamidzic will grant the offensive player this wish.
