Angie Verbrigghe, De Lovie vzw: “We try to get our residents to participate from A to Z. So they go to the fields to clear the hop blocks and bring them to De Lovie itself. The roots are then shortened and, after a rest period, they are planted in a heated growing container in the greenhouses.”
De Lovie is proud that it can always offer the scoops. The institution has been offering hop shoots at the REO auction for thirty years in a row. With the proceeds from the harvest, De Lovie wants to buy two mini donkeys as therapy animals for the residents.
