The cinema hall of Cinema Texel is packed for the premiere of the documentary ‘Time will tell’ by documentary maker Kelly Blok. About 120 people, mainly relatives, would like to see how the search for the fishing vessel TX26, which has disappeared since 1970, went.
When the credits end and the screen goes black, the room remains silent for a few seconds. When Kelly walks onto the stage, the applause erupts. There are brothers, sisters and children of the TX26 crew members in the audience. They all did not know for 54 years where their loved one died. The fact that it is finally known where the cutter sank means a lot to them. “You can shut it down now,” is a common response.
Reactions were unanimously positive
“I was glad it was over,” Kelly said with relief afterwards. “I was tense about the reactions of the relatives. It is a sensitive subject, and you don’t want to get it wrong.”
She has been working on it for a year and it turns out that she was worried for nothing, because the reactions of the people in the room are unanimously positive. “I was told that I had recorded it in a respectful way, no sensationalism, just how it went.”
