The lawyer from Romagna, who has always been a great motorbike enthusiast, receives the trust for his third mandate at the top of the Italian Motorcycle Federation

December 16 – 09:43 – MILAN

Giovanni Copioli was confirmed president of Italian motorcycle federation (IMF) and is therefore preparing to face the third consecutive mandate at its helm. The 63-year-old lawyer from Romagna, elected to the office for the first time in 2016, will therefore continue his work of renewing the federation for another four years, until 2028, after having obtained an almost plebiscite consensus at the seventy-sixth ordinary elective IMF national assembly, held in Riccione. In fact, by collecting 8,138 preferences already in the first vote, i.e. 96.8% of the total, Copioli has thus received yet another confirmation of the quality of the work carried out so far as well as a new certificate of confidence in his abilities and his vision from leader of the entire national two-wheel movement.

the new federal council

The re-election of Copioli as president of the Federmotopractically taken for granted already on the eve, arrives a week after his reconfirmation in the role of vice president of the International Motorcycle Federation (Fim), another clear recognition of his authority at all levels. Supporting him in his mission will be the ten members of the new Federal Council, elected in turn in Riccione: Giuseppe Bartolucci, Rocco Lopardo, Letizia Marchetti, Francesco Mezzasalma, Lorena Sangiorgi, Armando Sponga and Mario Volpe among affiliates, Alessandro Maccioni and Francesca Nocera in the redundant quota and Raffaele Prisco in the technical quota. Francesco Brandi was also confirmed as head of the Board of Auditors. The first session of the new Federal Council took place immediately during the day, leading to the appointment of Bartolucci and Lopardo as vice presidents and that of Giorgia Santini as general secretary, a position that will become operational starting from 1 March 2025.

the satisfaction of Giovanni Copioli

“I am really very excited to have achieved this result – commented Giovanni Copioli after the appointment – the goal it will still be to never stop and look to ever new challenges to make motorcycling grow even further. A result that can only be achieved through teamwork, which is why I am also deeply satisfied with the election of the new Federal Council, with which I will share this third mandate made of intense commitment and passionate work. I once again thank the many who have placed their trust in me and all the members of the Federal Council. I feel honored to be able to represent and lead for another four years what for me is the big family of the Italian Motorcycle Federation”.

The IMF golden motorcycle award

The Riccione assembly also saw the debut of an interesting innovation, the “Moto d’Oro IMF” award to celebrate the exploits of men and women of Italian motorcycling. The mythological 15-time world champion was among the first to receive it Giacomo Agostini, Davide Tardozzi representing Ducati and the fresh Italian enduro champions Andrea Verona And Manuel Verzeroli. Among those present was the vice president of CONI Silvia Salis while the president of CONI participated via video Giovanni Malagò and the president of the Fim Jorge Viegas.
