Convicted sports star Pistorius apparently has a new girlfriend

Almost twelve years ago, Oscar Pistorius shot his girlfriend at the time. He is now out on parole – and has fallen in love again.

Oscar Pistorius (38), once a celebrated Paralympics star, is said to have entered into a new relationship after his release from prison on probation. According to the South African newspaper “Netwerk24”, his partner is 33-year-old management consultant Rita Greyling, a long-time family friend. There is no public confirmation.

Pistorius was sentenced to 13 years and five months in prison in 2017 for the murder of his then-girlfriend Reeva Steenkamp. On Valentine’s Day 2013, he shot the model through a closed bathroom door in his Pretoria home. Pistorius claimed he suspected a burglar. The Steenkamp family was convinced that he intentionally killed Reeva after an argument.

After nine years in prison, Pistorius was released on parole in January 2024. He is subject to strict conditions until 2029: He is not allowed to consume alcohol or drugs, can only leave his place of residence with permission and has no contact with the Steenkamp family.

The relationship with Rita Greyling is said to have been strengthened by strokes of fate in both families. In 2022, Rita’s brother Ghini was involved in a mysterious death: a man drowned during a party, the investigation is ongoing.

Since his release, Pistorius has been living with his uncle Arnold in Pretoria and avoiding the public. Finding work is difficult. Friends report that he is perceived as “toxic.” The former athlete volunteers at a church to reorganize his life.

With his new relationship, Pistorius hopes for a fresh start – but the shadow of his past remains.
