After the first defeat of this Bundesliga season, Joshua Kimmich sees FC Bayern at a critical point. He becomes clear.
Joshua Kimmich woke up his teammates at FC Bayern after their fourth defeat of the season. “It is a dangerous but also a crucial moment that we now stand together as a team and continue to work hard,” said the Munich leader after the German record champions’ 1:2 (0:1) draw at FSV Mainz 05.
“We realize,” added Kimmich, “that we don’t get anything for free. We never got all the points we got happily. We have to continue to be aware that we have to work for everything. We don’t get a victory for free, that you noticed today.”
Kimmich did not see the eight injury-related absences as the cause of the first defeat of the season in the Bundesliga, nor did he see possible fatigue. “We didn’t manage to control the emotions, we didn’t have great possession of the ball and we made one or two mistakes. As a result, a lot happened around our box.”
Kimmich himself was involved in the second goal. He tried to prevent the shot on goal, but was only able to deflect the ball. At the end of the year against RB Leipzig, it will be “important for the league leaders that we win,” said Kimmich and emphasized: “Everyone has to make sure that they are at an absolute top level on Friday. Then Leipzig has to play against a very strong Bayern. ..” Kimmich warned: “All players have to internalize that we absolutely have to win the last game on Friday against Leipzig.”
Champions Bayer Leverkusen celebrated their fourth Bundesliga victory in a row with a 2-0 win in Augsburg. The gap to FC Bayern, which was already nine points at one point, is now only four points after Munich’s defeat in Mainz. The fight for the title is now open again.
